Design Assistant (Temp to Full-time)

The Team:

This position is responsible for bridging the gap between design, product development and production teams within the RTW, Knits and Accessories Design Team. We are looking for someone with a sharp eye for detail, clear understanding of relevant market and fashion landscape with a positive and upbeat attitude. This position is temp to hire with a 6 month paid internship to qualify. 

Responsibilities:

• • Conducts regular market, fabric, color, leather, jewelry and hardware research in addition to seasonal trend analysis.

  • Work closely with the print designer in creating basic repeats and colorups.

  • Assist in designing, technical sketching and specing under guidance of designers and creative director.

  • Ability to pass spec measurements in a detailed and organized and clear manner for factory interpretation (domestic and import).

  • Set up seasonal template technical packages with style codes, material codes, and style matrix for pass off’s.

  • Assist designers with Layouts and CAD color ups for linesheets and technical packages for clear communication to the factories.

  • Responsible for updating seasonal design style boards, linesheets and internal style documents post meetings.

  • Assist the RTW designers with overseeing midtown end of season sampling.

  • Manage weekly shipments tracking and shipping to ensure items arrive on time.

  • Assist in seasonal photoshoots and renaming of files for sales and ecommerce teams.

• • Sit in design’s proto through production fittings to take photos and notes with the team.  

  • Tag and archive collection during pre-season pass off.

  • Maintain seasonal archival documents for internal communication.

  • Manage and organize collection racks and accessories closet for swift access to inventory.

  • Manage and organize seasonal materials and trims library to pass off to production seasonally.

  • Attend seasonal trend shows and shopping day with design for inspiration and sourcing.

Qualifications:

• • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Accessory Design, or a related field

  • Previous internship experience at a related company, recent graduates welcomed

  • Proficiency in Google Suite

  • Proficiency in Procreate + Adobe Creative Suite : Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign

  • Strong sketching ability for both technical and freeform renderings to detail construction techniques

  • An eagerness to learn and grow in a fast paced environment  

  • A positive attitude and willingness to to work collaboratively with a team

  • Ability to clearly communicate in a professional manner

  • Eye for evolution of trends, understanding of relevant fashion landscape inclusive of street style and personal style.

  • Passion for fabrics, silhouettes, accessories and styling is a must
