Responsibilities:

  • Design women’s RTW woven styles following seasonal creative direction with a focus on soft wovens and occasion dressing

  • Design seasonal prints and embellishments as required

  • Collaborate with patternmakers + sample-makers to guide first toiles to final samples

  • Understand collection direction, overview, and suggest missed opportunities

  • Attend development fittings with patternmakers and creative director to develop prototypes and final samples

  • Follow up with fit note corrections with patternmakers if needed

  • Attend pre-production fittings with patternmakers to perfect styles before passing off to production

Qualifications:

  • At least 5-7 years of experience designing womenswear at luxury or contemporary pricepoints
  • Expert knowledge of garment construction
  • Clear written and spoken communication skills with excellent follow up for overseas factory correspondence
  • Proficient in garment sketching, clear tech packs for embellishment trial launches
  • Knowledge of woven fabric and embroidery techniques
  • Ability to adapt to a sometimes fast-paced working environment while maintaining a respectful, positive, and calm demeanor
  • Attention to detail, clear and team player, and self-starter
  • Familiarity with the Rachel Comey brand and understands the aesthetics of the product/customer
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suites and Mac OSX required

Salary:

  • $70K-$96K base salary, depends on experience
