About the Role
Rachel Comey is seeking a visionary Art Director to lead the brand’s creative direction and ensure a cohesive, elevated visual identity across all channels. This role is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of visual storytelling across campaigns, e-commerce, social media, and marketing. The ideal candidate is culturally engaged, strategically minded, and passionate about producing exceptional creative work that reflects and pushes the brand forward.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Art Direction - Photo & Video

  • Define, maintain, and evolve the visual identity of the Rachel Comey brand across all digital platforms, ensuring consistency and alignment with brand guidelines.
  • Develop and present creative concepts for seasonal campaigns, product launches, and brand initiatives, bringing them to life through compelling visual storytelling.
  • Partner with the Fashion Director and Rachel Comey to define seasonal stories and ensure they align with the broader brand vision.
  • Define and uphold a distinct and elevated visual identity through photography, video, and digital design.
  • Maintain deep awareness of cultural and creative trends to keep the brand relevant and forward-thinking.

Team Management & Collaboration

  • Manage and mentor the in-house creative team, including the Junior Art Director and Press Assistant.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners including E-commerce, Social, Email, Merchandising, and Communications to ensure cohesive storytelling across all channels.
  • Build and maintain a roster of creative collaborators such as photographers, stylists, set designers, and talent.

Production & Execution

  • Lead all aspects of seasonal lookbook production (4x annually), including presenting multiple creative directions per season.
  • Direct both studio and location shoots, ensuring a balance of editorial storytelling and product-focused merchandising.
  • Oversee shot planning, set design, lighting, and location selection for campaigns and editorial shoots.
  • Provide on-set creative direction including styling guidance, posing, and shot framing.
  • Ensure that all deliverables meet the needs of web, email, social, Vogue Runway, and additional marketing platforms.
  • Assist with in-house equipment management, ensuring gear and storage are maintained with the Producer.
  • Manage and maintain the Dropbox system, ensuring all files are organized, structured, and archived correctly.
  • Oversee the organization of all photo and video assets, including Joor flats, lookbooks, editorial shoots, and e-commerce images.
  • Maintain a clear archive system for seasonal assets, ensuring easy access for creative, e- commerce, and marketing teams.
  • Collaborate with the Ecommerce team on re-touching details, if needed.

E-Commerce & Digital

  • Collaborate with the E-commerce Director to develop and oversee photography and video strategies for the website, including homepage content, product storytelling, journals, and curated edits.
  • Direct e-commerce photography including lighting, set design, and model direction.
  • Collaborate with freelance creative and production teams to keep direction aligned with brand vision.
  • Partner with Merchandising and Buying to ensure product priorities and hero pieces are highlighted across digital platforms.
  • Work with the Producer to ensure all shoots remain on budget without compromising creative integrity.

 

Social & Marketing Integration

  • Collaborate with Social Media Manager and Email Marketing team to ensure consistency and cohesion in visual storytelling across Instagram, TikTok, email, and advertising.
  • Oversee Junior AD’s weekly digital and social campaigns and weekly postings.
  • Oversee storytelling across digital marketing efforts, ensuring they reflect the brand’s seasonal narrative and support commercial goals.

 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in art direction, fashion photography, or creative direction, ideally within fashion or lifestyle brands.
  • Proven experience leading creative teams and developing high-impact visual campaigns across digital and print.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing campaign development, art direction, and cross-platform storytelling.
  • Deep cultural fluency with a passion for art, fashion, photography, and emerging creative trends.
  • Expertise in directing photography, styling, set design, and video production.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and familiar with production and asset management tools.

 

Salary: $90k-$120
