The Design Director will lead the creative direction of our upcoming collections and product development, working closely with Rachel and senior leadership to inspire and shape the future of the brand. This role requires a deep understanding of luxury-level construction and a true appreciation for the Rachel Comey brand—one that serves modern, working women while remaining a vital contributor to the NYC creative landscape.

Key Responsibilities
- Direct and inspire the design team in creating fresh silhouettes, innovative fabrications, and thoughtful collections.
- Balance creativity with function, addressing both fit, tailoring, fabrication, and comfort, as well as the broader, more nuanced needs of our customers.
- Uphold and evolve the Rachel Comey design language while remaining attuned to cultural and lifestyle shifts.
- Collaborate across departments, ensuring strong communication between design, patternmaking, production, sales, and merchandising.
- Maintain an ambitious, open-minded, and collaborative design culture.

About Us
Next year marks our 25th year as an independent design and manufacturing company based in Lower Manhattan. Since 2001, we’ve grown steadily thanks to our loyal customers and wholesale partners. We remain outside the center spotlight, cultivating creativity, fresh ideas, and collaboration—the qualities that make New York City unique.
Our in-house studio includes a full pattern and sample room with three senior patternmakers skilled in draping and CAD development, as well as a cutting and sewing team led by senior tailors. We’re also expanding our workspace to bring our merchandising, sales, and administration teams under one roof by the end of this year. Many of our team members have been with us for over a decade, and we’re excited to grow into our next chapter together.
