Rachel Comey is seeking a visionary and strategic Fashion Director to lead the collection, brand, and product storytelling as well as the visual expression of the brand across all channels. This pivotal role partners closely with Design, Art Direction, Communications, and E-commerce to shape how the brand's collections are presented — from runway to retail, campaigns to social content. The ideal candidate brings a strong editorial eye, deep industry knowledge, and a keen sense of culture, aesthetics, and customer behavior.
Key responsibilities:
Creative leadership and brand vision
- Collaborate conceptually and strategically with Rachel Comey, the design team, and art direction team on creative direction from product offerings to visual content.
- Work with team leaders to ensure ongoing growth and excitement for the Rachel Comey clientele. This includes details such as fit and lifestyle offerings, as well as new visionary product concepts to bring to existing and new clients.
- Communicates collection information and product details to the merch, sales, and ecom team, as well as press and outside collaborators.
- Define and articulate the overarching creative vision and aesthetic for the brand, ensuring consistency across all products, categories, channels and collections.
- Provides seasonal inspiration, market research, analysis of current product offers, and inspiration to the design team for future seasons. Acts as a liaison between the fashion landscape to design team and then from design team to ecommerce, sales, merchandising, press, and directly to clients.
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in the fashion industry and global markets, translating them into seasonal themes and styling that align with the brand's identity.
- Work closely with the design team to develop new fashion concepts and seasonal collections that are both innovative and commercially successful.
Content and campaign execution
- Spearhead the creative direction for campaigns, photoshoots, and runway shows, from initial concept to execution.
- Oversee the styling for all e-commerce imagery, ensuring that product detail pages reflect the seasonal trends and brand codes.
- Lead the production of all visual content, including sourcing photographers, models, and locations for photoshoots.
- Collaborate with creative teams to produce compelling fashion stories that highlight key seasonal messages and evolve the brand's narrative.
- Partner with the art department, advertising, and public relations teams to develop integrated communication strategies that effectively tell the brand's story.
Retail & Merchandising collaboration
- Liaise with merchandising and buying teams to inform product selection and ensure collections are aligned with market demand.
- Collaborate with RC, the merchandising team, and the retail teams to carry the seasonal aesthetic through to the retail environment, including window displays and in-store visuals, as well as creating in-store events, 3rd party buying, pop up shops, and brand collaborations.
- Align with product teams and other creative leaders to ensure a consistent fashion voice across all customer touchpoints, from digital platforms to in-store experiences.
Team and project management
- Lead and mentor team, both in house and freelance, such as product designers, merchandisers, stylists and coordinators.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure all fashion projects are completed effectively and efficiently.
- Oversee talent selection and scheduling for all e-commerce and special project shoots.
Qualifications and skills:
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in fashion editorial, brand styling, or a similar creative role, preferably within the luxury fashion sector.
- Proven experience leading creative teams and managing complex, multi-channel projects.
- Extensive knowledge of garment and accessory quality, materials, fit, and style.
