The Rachel Comey design team is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Product Developer to join our studio. This role oversees the end-to-end development of our collections—from initial concept through sample delivery—ensuring excellence in product execution, clear communication across teams, and seamless workflow management. Working closely with Design, Production, Patternmaking, our in-house sample room, and both domestic and overseas partners, the Product Developer plays a central role in bringing each collection to life.
Key responsibilities:
Product Development & Collection Management

Meet weekly with the Design team to review collections, timelines, fabric needs, and allocation.

Build and maintain accurate BOMs for all SKUs.

Manage prototype and sample development, including tracking, timeline oversight, and development budget monitoring.

Enter and maintain all line sheet data.

Support fittings through note-taking, first proto preparation, and follow-up communication.

Receive, check in, and organize all incoming samples; prepare racks and maintain sample organization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Manage WIP across multiple partners: freelance patternmakers, domestic and overseas factories, sample room, and in-house sample room.

Track all sampling activities to ensure deadlines and seasonal milestones are met.

Enter and update cost calculations; review, analyze, and maintain all cost sheets within the WIP.

Lead seasonal production handoff and attend production fittings.

Serve as the primary liaison between Production and the sample room, ensuring smooth workflow once the season transitions.
Sample Room & Factory Management

Send all seasonal T&As to factories, clearly outlining due dates, deliverables, and expectations.

Oversee daily sample room workflow and organizational needs.

Manage daily development communication with factories; monitor timelines and sample execution.

Maintain trim and lining libraries across all factory partners.

Oversee domestic factory operations, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
Process Optimization

Contribute to the improvement and implementation of WIP and development systems.

Continuously refine development processes to support product quality, efficiency, and cost optimization.

Manage shipping and sample tracking; maintain an understanding of HTS codes and shipping platforms.

Strong background in product development within fashion, ideally across RTW categories.

About Us
Our in-house studio includes a full pattern and sample room with senior patternmakers skilled in draping and CAD development, as well as a cutting and sewing team led by master tailors. We expanded our workspace to bring our merchandising, sales, and administration teams under one roof this year. Many of our team members have been with us for over a decade, and we’re excited to grow into our next chapter together.
